Tell us about your creative work and how you got to where you are now.

By Modern Muse grew from a quiet pull toward thoughtful, intentional design. With a background in luxury interior design, I developed a deep appreciation for how visual worlds are built, not just how they look, but the feeling they evoke.

Over time, I found myself drawn to projects where story, strategy and aesthetic are deeply intertwined. What began as a passion alongside full-time roles gradually evolved into the studio you see today, as I realised I wanted to work more closely with founders who care about depth, nuance and longevity.

By Modern Muse is a space where brands are shaped with intention, guided by clarity and calm, and a belief that the most compelling work is quietly confident rather than loud.

How would you describe your design style?

Editorial, refined and grounded in strategy. My work often sits at the intersection of softness and structure, pairing elegant typography, considered colour palettes and tactile details with clear positioning and purpose.

I’m drawn to design that feels timeless rather than trend-led, where every choice is intentional and leaves space for the brand’s story to lead.

Describe your ideal client, project or collaboration.

My ideal clients are thoughtful and design-aware, and care deeply about how their brand shows up in the world. They value process and collaboration, and are willing to take the time to uncover their vision.

The most rewarding projects feel like true partnerships, where trust allows us to explore, refine and build something that feels both aligned and enduring.

Share a project you’re especially proud of and why.

One project I’m particularly proud of is Darcey Floralscapes, a sustainable floristry studio based in the Lake District. The rebrand was rooted in depth, romance and a sense of grounding, allowing the work, the landscape and the story to breathe. It was a reminder that good design doesn’t need to over-explain itself.

Working so closely with Jess, the founder, and being trusted throughout the process made the outcome especially rewarding.

What’s one lesson you’ve learned in your creative journey that others might need to hear?

Clarity comes from making intentional decisions that aren’t rushed. Some of the strongest creative choices are made when you allow yourself time to step back, question and refine.

Also, growth doesn’t just happen overnight. It’s built through consistency, hard work and the small, everyday efforts that move you closer to where you want to be.

Who is a designer you admire?

I’ve always admired Studio Kynd. Their work is simple, refined and considered, with a strong sense of style that feels cohesive across every project. I also really admire Niobe’s approach to branding. There’s a quiet authenticity to her work that feels honest and authentic.

How do you stay inspired?

Inspired by our name, a ‘muse’ is something that can be found anywhere around us. I find beauty and inspiration in everyday life, from interiors and the clothes we wear to food, travel and the spaces we move through. All of these details quietly shape the decisions we make and the visions we build.
